GILBERT BARBIER (b. 1626, d. 15 Nov 1693)

GILBERT BARBIER (son of PIERRE BARBIER and MARIE-CLAUDE VIZON) was born 1626 in ST-ARE-DECIZE, NEVERS, NIVERNAIS, FRANCE, and died 15 Nov 1693 in POINTE-A-TREMBLE, MO., PQ, CD. He married CATHERINE DELAVAUX on 14 Nov 1650 in MONTREAL, MO., PQ, CD, daughter of ALEXANDER DELAVAUX and LOUISE DE RENEL.

Arrived in New France along with 11 other Colonists in 1642.
Obtained land in 1650.
Occupation: Master Carpenter. Fiscal Procurateur of Montreal in 1657 and 1662. Corporal in the Militia in 1663.
