He was a member of the Congregational Church of Christ in Killingly, Conn., were he took the convenant in 1746. He was admitted as a inhabitant of Voluntown, Conn on 23 Dec 1728, he was admitted with sturdy Scotch-Irish emigrants whom established themselves within its borders.
Robert and Martha lived in the extreme northwest part of Voluntown near the Plainfield, Conn town line and owned lands which crossed the boundaries of both towns. He resided in Voluntown, Conn., when it was incorporated in 1719 and remained their until about 1750 when they removed there family to Scituate, R.I. He was also sworn in as a freeman in Scitute, R.I. in 1754.
