MARGARET READE (b. 11 Jul 1598, d. Bef. 24 Sep 1672)

MARGARET READE (daughter of EDMUND READE and ELIZABETH COOKE) was born 11 Jul 1598 in NORTH BENFLEET, ENGLAND, and died Bef. 24 Sep 1672 in IPSWICH, MASS.. She married JOHN LAKE on 1616 in NORTH BENFLEET, ESSEX, ENGLAND, son of JOHN LAKE and ELIZABETH SANDELL.

Notes for MARGARET READE:
Margaret Reade Lake and two daughters were passengers on the ship "Lyon" in 1631.

For many years she lived with her sister and brother-in-law Gov. John Winthrop, Jr in New London, CT.
The last decade of her life was spent at Ipswich, Mass at the home of her daughter Martha Harris.

On 18 Jan 1661/62 Margaret wrote from Wenham, Ma, to her brother-in-law, Gov. Winthrop, who was in London: "Might I not be to troublesome to you I would have desired you, to have done me the courtsey as to inquire concerning my husband's death, & how he ended his days.
