THOMAS WRIGHT (son of JOHN WRIGHT and GRACE GLASCOCK) was born 19 Nov 1610 in BROOK HALL, SOUTH WEALD ESSEX, ENGLAND, and died 21 Apr 1670 in WETHERSFIELD, CT. He married MARY CRANBROKE on 10 Aug 1629 in SOUTH WEALD, ESSEX, ENGLAND, daughter of WILLIAM CRANBROKE and MABEL.

Thomas and Mary came to America in 1635. Thomas was initially in Massachusetts and was one of the first settlers in Wethersfield, Ct about 1639.
Thomas bought a lot of land and would eventually have his own island, called "Wright Island" in the middle of the Connecticut River. The Indians called in Mannahannock (Great Laughing Place). A part of this island was still owned by the family in 1900. It would later be eroded away, and does not exist today.

Thomas was a Deputy to the General Court of Connecticut in 1643; served as a selectman in 1658.

Thomas and his wife Mary Cranbroke were the first Wrights to caome to America in 1635.
