 Includes NotesNotes for CONRAD STRICKLER:
Biographical: well to be truthful, little is known about Conrad Strickler.
Believe that Conrad was a member of the clan of Catholic Strickler family that settled at an early year in Chneus just wset of the Strickler family in Hutten. Herman Strickler lived in Chneus and his descendants moved further west and across the Sihl River into the region of Switzerland that is today a part of Canton Zug. They settled in the mid 1500's at Menzingen, Zug and by the later part of the 1500's members of the family appears near Neuheim. Among the most common names in these family lines is Conrad. There are two significant facts dealing the migration of this clan of the Stricklers family. (1) First records of our Conrad Strickler are at Bruderhaus in present day Hirzel. Note that the Bruderhaus is less than four miles from the center of town in Neuheim, Zug. It seems reasonable that either Conrad or his father simply crossed the Sihl River from Neuheim to Hirzel. (2) Conrad Strickler married Anna Landis daughter of Rudolph and Anna (Bruppacher) landis. Both the Landis (then Landos) and the Bruppacher families migrated from the area near Neuheim to Hirzel. This theory holds that Conrad was a member of the clan of Stricklers that lived in Wadenswil the largest community north of Richterswil na d south of Horgen. Although the distance from Wadenswil to Hirzel is relatively short, the migratory patten of this clan at this early date was from north to south and not to the west that is more mountainous. It is a fact that the earliest Stricklers in Hutten came from the Richerwil-wadenswil areas.
It is known that Conrad lived in 1615, with his father-in-law, until he built the Bruderhaus in the year or so following his marriage.
