Freeman was the youngest of Walter (Wuss) and Molly's children. He took care of them until their death. He inherited the place his Dad built on the Old Trinity Road as a result of taking care of his mother for the last days of her life. None of Walter's other children would take on the responsibility. He worked many years at the Cooper-Wells hosiery mill in Decatur. It was a good job during the depression years. After Cooper-Wells went out of business in the 1950's, he sold insurance for the Mutual Savings Life Insurance Company for many years, after which he left the insurance business and went to work for the Standard Coffee Company. He was influenced to make this change by Mr. Faulkner, our next door neighbor, who worked for Standard Coffee for many years. This was a hard time financially for Freeman and his wife. After a few years he went back to Mutual Savings until he was forced to retire due to illness. Most of the time with Mutual Savings and the coffee company he spent in Lawrence County selling insurance or coffee.
