We often wondered how Lutie Waymon Rhodes got his name, which he never
liked, and always went by L.W. or "Slim". In the course of researching the Callahans, a wealth of personal information was obtained from Dorothy (Mrs. Louis) Callahan Davis of Decatur, Alabama. L.W.'s grandmother was Louisa Elizabeth Livingston Callahan, and from this material it as learned that she was call "Lute E.", so it can be reasonally assumed that this was the origin of L.W.'s name.
