5. THOMAS3 RHODES (WILLIAM M.2, JACOB1) was born Abt. 1851 in Georgia. He married E.N. HARVILL 14 February 1871 in Lawrence County, Alabama.

Listed on the 1880 Lawrence County, Pen Hook, Beat 8 Census at age 29, wife
E. N. (30), H. B., female (8), Lou, female (2), and S. A., female (5/12). Have been unable to locate this family since that time, although a Tom P. Rhodes, born February 1851 in Georgia, and Emma, born June 1854 in Georgia were located in Santa Rosa County, Florida on the 1900 census, ED 101 Sheet 10A. They had been married 29 years, she was the mother of 4, 4 living. The information conforms to what we have, but positive proof has not been obtained. They were not found in the censuses of GA, TN, MS, NC, TX, LA or SC in 1900.

1910 Santa Rosa County, Florida ED 101, Family # 210 lists Thomas P. (59), born in Georgia and Emmaline (55) born in Alabama.

1920 Florida census of Santa Rosa County was not available at Clayton Library in Houston, Texas.

6. GEORGE WASHINGTON3 RHODES (WILLIAM M.2, JACOB1) was born 30 August 1854 in Georgia, and died 24 August 1926 in Lawrence County, Alabama. He married MALISSA ANN HAMILTON 16 August 1874 in Lawrence County, Alabama, daughter of JOSEPH HAMILTON and ELIZABETH DARNELL.

Buried at Bald Knob Cemetery in Lawrence County, Alabama. Death certificate
said he was a farmer, lived at Route 2, Moulton, AL and died of hepatic cyrrhosis. Information was given by son, G.M. Rhodes. Death certificate said born in Alabama, but 1900 and 1910 Lawrence County, Alabama censuses said he was born in Georgia. Census also said George's mother and father were born in North Carolina.

Censuses had Precinct as Oakville, and George and his wife could read and write. He was a farmer, and owned his farm.

Census lists George W. Rhoads (45), born August 1854 in Georgia, married 25 years, farming own farm which has a mortgage, as head of household, Malissa A. (43), born December 1856, father born in Virginia, mother born in Alabama, mother of 7, 7 living, Rachel (20), born July 1879, Roxanna (14), born June 1885, George M. (9), born April 1889, and John T. (5), born May 1895.

Next door is his son, William (25) farming rented farm, his wife Dora (27), mother of 2, 2 living, and Mary (2).

Several farms down the road are some of the Callahans, one of which is Louisa Elizabeth Callahan (47) widow, farming own farm which has a mortgage. In her household are George's youngest brother, Daniel Webster Rhodes (26), married 8 years, and his wife, Susan Catherine Callahan Rhodes (25) and their four children Monroe W. (7), Rachel E. (6), Lutie W. (2) and Utheard W. (8/12).

Census lists George W. Rhodes (55), married 34 years, Malissa A. (53), mother of 7, 7 living, Rachel J. (30), George M. (20) and John T. (15).

Next door is his widowed daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Owens,mother of 7, 7 living, with children George C. (10), Thomas E. (8), Aaron L. (6), Edward (5), Clellie (3), Fannie L. (1 8/12) and Frannie B. (1 8/12).

Rachel Rhodes helped George M. Rhodes' widow, Virgie Hamilton Rhodes, to raise his children, Leroy, Lillian and Lawson. Julie Pearl died at the age of 1 or 2.

His household is adjacent to that of his father, William M. and his wife, Mary J. He is listed as head of household, (43), born Dec. 1856 in Georgia, married 17 years, farming own farm, which is free from mortgage. Others in household are Martha (34), wife, mother of 6, 5 living, Columbus S. (16) born Nov. 1883, Virgie (14), born Jan. 1885, Mattie L. (8), born June 1891, Alva (5), born Oct. 1894, and Albert (2) born Nov. 1897.

Next door is Ollie Crow (22) with wife Mattie Lou (19), and son Prentis (1/12).

W. B. RHODES IS CLAIMED BY DEATH

Funeral services for W. B. Rhodes, 86, who passed away Tuesday afternoon at his home on Decatur 3, will be held Thursday at two p.m. at the Antioch church with Rev. W. W. Aldrich officiating.

The deceased is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mattie Lou Pitts of Hartselle, three sons, Lumby Rhodes of Decatur 3, Alvie Rhodes of Nashville, Tenn., and Forest Rhodes of Decatur 3, a sister, Mrs. Dollie Roberts of Moulton 1 and ten grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be Edward White, Lucian White, Monroe Alexander, Clyde Graves, Fred Jones, and Jeff Long.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ross McMeans, Will Lamon, Dave Mooney, Cullen Pace, Sam Woodall and Minor Russell.

Interment will be in the Bald Knob Cemetery, Brown directing.
