      William E. Rhodes Dies At Infirmary

      William Edward Rhodes, 69, passed away Saturday night at the Baugh's infirmary following a three day illness.

      The deceased is survived by his wife; one son, Prentiss B. Rhoades; four daughters; Mrs. S. H. Watson, Miss Edna Mae Rhoades; Mrs. Arthur Gillespie, and Mrs. Harold Walling; one brother; three sisters; thirteen grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

      Funeral service will be announced later by Mutual Service.

PRENTICE RHOADS - ARITON

Prentice Rhoads, 75, of Ariton, died Thursday afternoon in a Fort Rucker hospital following a long illness.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church with the Revs. Larry Teasley and Bruce Cooper officiating.

Burial will be in the Mount Olive Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The body will be at the funeral home until one hour before service time today.

Mr. Rhoads was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church, the Disabled American Veterans and a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. He retired from the Army after serving 22 years.

Survivors included his wife, Mrs. Ludie Rhoads, Ariton; three daugters, Mrs. Sharon Strickland, Falkville, Ala., Mrs. Jorcy Szydlowski, Hazel Park, Mich., Mrs. Linda Smith, Warren, Mich., two sisters, Miss Edna Rhoads, Huntsville, and Mrs. Lucille Walling, Hartselle; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

HARTSELLE - Funeral for Lucille Rhodes Walling, 83, of Hartselle will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Napier and the Rev. Ron Wilson officiating.

Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Walling died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998 at her home. She was born Dec. 4, 1914, in Morgan County to Edward and Dora Rhodes. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Hartselle. She was the widow of Harold Walling, her husband of 55 years.

She is survived by three sons, Ty Walling of Birmingham, Edward Walling of Falkville and Connie Walling of Hartselle; two daughters, Joan Kearce and June Brazell, both of Hartselle; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be John Peek, Andy Norwood, Michael Shaeffer, Bobby Turney, Greg Childers and Ricky McAbee.
