JIM RHODES DIES IN LAWRENCE HOME

Funeral services for Jim Rhodes, 67, who passed away at his home on Moulton 2 following a long illness, will be held Wednesday at two p.m. at the Union Grove church in Lawrence County, Rev. A.G. Tingley and Rev. Floyd O. Parker officiating.

      The deceased is survived by his wife, three sons, Harvey and Louis Rhodes of Decatur 3, and Johnny Rhodes of Hartselle 2; three daughters, Mrs. Annie White of Danville 3, Miss Cora Rhodes and Miss Lucie Rhodes of Moulton 2, two brothers, Ed Rhodes of Falkville and Johnnie Rhodes of Florida, and three sisters, Mrs. Roxie Tulles, Mrs. Margaret Owens, and Miss Rachel Rhodes of Hillsboro.

      Interment will be made in the Bald Knob Cemetery, Drinkard directing.

MRS. IDA RHODES

      Mrs. Ida Jane Rhoades, 81, of Moulton 2, died Wednesday at 9:50 p.m. at her residence following a long illness.
      Funeral rites will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Union Grove Methodist Church in Lawrence County. The Revs. Floyd Parker and A.J. Tingley are to officiate.
      Burial is to be in Bald Knob Cemetery in Lawrence County with Brown Funeral Co. of Decatur in charge. Pallbearers are to be Hoyt Woods, Gilbert and Bobby Rhoades, J.D. Bullard, Duel Hammonds, and Hollis Cowart.
      The body was returned to the residence this morning and will remain there until time for services.
      Mrs. Rhoades is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Wheeler Hampton and Mrs. Earnest McDougald, both of Moulton 2, and Mrs. John White, Decatur; three sons, Lewis of Decatur 3, Johnny of Hartselle 1, and Harvey of Danville 3; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren.

William Louis Rhodes was a farmer in his early years. In 1940 or 1941, he went to work for Goodyear Mills, where he worked as a section foreman until Goodyear closed their cotton cord tire division in 1953. He was then employed with Decatur Iron and Steel Company and retired in 1971 after steel fell on him breaking both ankles. He died approximately two years later of a massive heart attack at age 66.
