46. AMOS4 RICHARDSON (JOHN3, BENJAMIN2, BENJAMIN1) was born 05 March 1854 in Jasper County, Texas, and died 13 September 1938 in Silsbee, Hardin County, Texas. He married (1) MARTHA ANN CABANESS 11 September 1878 in Jasper County, Texas. He married (2) ALICE L. WHITMIRE 17 August 1882 in Jasper County, Texas.

Amos and his brother Abel sell their interest in "a certain tract of land, known as the Benjamin Richardson League to W. B. Hargrove for $11.00. Filed for record
11 August 1879. Recorded 12 August 1879. Deed Book "L" Page 402.

Living with his brother Abel according to Jasper County census 1880, and listed as widower.

Amos operated the Richardson Bluff ferry from the latter 1890's until about 1915
when it was sold to Henry Walter Kirkpatrick.

There is a lengthy article concerning Amos contained in "The Vivid Memory of Amos Richardson In Storehouse of East Texas Lore" by Ed Reichelt. (Beaumont Enterprise 21 August 1937.

Born March 1854, (46), married 16 years, farmer as head of household, Alice (31) wife, Born April 1869, Addie (16), Born April 1884, John (13) Born March 1887, Thomas (9) Born August 1890, Able (8) Born February 1892, Ida (5) Born August 1894, "Baby" (2) Male Born April 1898.

1910 Jasper County, Texas census ED 63 Sheet 235 lists:

Amos J. Richardson (54) married 27 years, Alice (42), Thomas (18), Abel (16), Iva (14) and Amos (12).

Amos lived in the Evadale area his entire life, moving to Silsbee only one month prior to his death. Survivors were his widow, Alice; two daughters, Mrs. J. E. Smith of Silsbee, Mrs. J. S. Gravis of Evadale; four sons; John and Amos of Jasper; Tom of Silsbee and Abe of Evadale, eighteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

47. GENERAL LAFAYETTE4 RICHARDSON (ROBERT W.3, BENJAMIN2, BENJAMIN1) was born 28 September 1847 in Jasper County, Texas, and died 26 November 1943 in Ennis, Ellis County, Texas. He married BARBARA (BARBARY) ALLEN FOSTER 03 November 1870 in Orange County, Texas, daughter of JOHN FOSTER and JANE NUGENT.

ENERAL LAFAYETTE RICHARDSON:
Lafayette served as a confederate soldier during the Civil War in the Infantry. He enlisted at Caro, Texas in 1864 and was discharged 6 months later in Orange, Texas.

Lafayette and Barbara came to Navarrro County in 1914 from Thornton, Limestone County, Texas and lived in Emhouse and the Corsicana area.

He lived to the ripe old age of 96 years. His funeral service was at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana, Navarro County, Texas with the Rev. J.M. Fannin officiating. His pallbearers were Thelbert Dixon, Earl Thornton, Robert Richardson, Frankie Fincher, Grady Fincher and Royal Fincher. He was buried beside his wife at Zion's Rest Cemetery in Corsicana.

Jasper County census Precinct 4 taken 21 June 1880 lists G. L. Richardson (32) as head of household with wife Barbra A. (26), Clarissa (8), Lovell A. (7), Sinia A. (4), and Ambrose A. (2) in residence. Page 167 of microfilm.

Brown, enumerator, Enumeration District 65 Sheet 25, lists General Richardson (52), born September 1847 in Texas, married 29 years, father and mother born in Mississippi head of household, farming on rented farm, Barbrey A., wife, (47), born March 1853 in Texas, mother of 8, 6 living, parents both born in Mississippi, Ambrose A. (22), born April 1878, Nancy M. (19), born July 1880, James N. (13), born November 1883, Noma M. (11), born August 1888, and Emmett Richardson, nephew, (17), born August 1882 in Texas, both parents born in Texas, listed as farm laborer, in household.

1910 Limestone County, Texas census ED 74 Sheet 376 lists:

ARBARA (BARBARY) ALLEN FOSTER:
Barbara was the daughter of John Claiborn Foster, born in 1803 in Mississippi, and Jane Amanda Nugent, born June 15, 1809 in Mississippi, died June 28, 1903 in Limestone County, Texas, buried in Tidwell Cemetery. John Claiborn's parents were John Foster, born May 25, 1757; died January 26, 1837 in Woodville, Wilkinson County, Mississippi; married on October 26, 1797 to Mary Elizabeth Smith Kelsey, widow of William Kelsey, and she was the daughter of Zachariah and Frances Smith. Mary was born October 10, 1772; and died in December 1831.

The Fosters first came to Texas in the 1820's and were part of Stephen F. Austin's 300. Confirmation exists that John Foster received a land grant consisting of 3 Leagues and 3 Labors of land in Fort Bend County, Texas, a considerable holding.

They were from Mississippi, where they owned land on the Natchez River, and wanted to build a town and county seat named for Washington. They gave land for a college to be named after Thomas Jefferson. They were tobacco farmers.

Barbara's brothers were Wiley Wood, who married Barbara's mother-in-law, Clarissa; Rodney; John; and Amos; her sisters were Hetty, who married Allen, Barbara's brother-in-law; Liza and Rosa.
