Notes for D
ORA BELLE (DORIE) SCOTT:
"Dorie Damuth Named Mrs. U. S. Savings Bonds"! These headlines in the Conroe Courier in 1967 were quite exciting to the residents of Magnolia! One of our very own! As Mrs. Texas in the Mrs. America pageant, she was a finalist and was chosen by Treasury Department officials (from among the 50 state winners) to become the Treasury Department's International Goodwill Ambassador for United States Savings Bonds. The fifteen-month, extensive public appearance tour consisted of hundreds of speeches, newspaper, magazine, radio, and TV interviews, military hospital visits, factory tours, and special events participation. Travel totaled over 200,000 American and European miles

Dora Belle Scott was born May 21, 1933 in Buna, Jasper County, Texas to Fairy (Richardson) and Archie Scott. She graduated from high school there and went on to attend the University of Texas.

In 1973-74, Dorie co-authored the Prentice Hall college textbook "Woman's Contemporary Image" at the request of the publisher. She was "Outstanding Woman of the Year" of Montgomery County in 1981. She was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the First State Bank of Magnolia, with continuous service as a director from 1971 to 1989.

Dorie has been very active in professional and civic affairs throughout Montgomery and Harris County and has a long-time commitment to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. She served as Chairman of the Speakers' Committee for three years and continues as a member, as well as a director of the show. She is the former owner and president of two companies, The Houston Relocation Council and Creative Conference Services. Both companies were successfully sold in 1990.

Notes for G
ROVER CLEVELAND (BO) DAMUTH:
Bo is a graduate of Texas A & M University (Class of '51) and helped defray his college expenses by working as a professional rodeo clown for the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association and professional rodeos. He contined to clown, as well as perform in several riding events, through 1959.

Bo and Dorie met at the combination military/church wedding of her sister to Bo's roommate. Bo was best man and Dorie was the Maid of Honor. A month later they were marrried in a very unique wedding ceremony - on horseback in Tomball, Texas, in the rodeo arena in all the western regalia. At that time there was a rodeo every Saturday night in Tomball, and on Saturday night, July 5, 1952, they were the feature attraction.

Bo served as Mongomery County Commissioner from 1960 to 1968.

Bo and Dorie operate the Flying D Registered Texas Longhorn Ranch at Tillis Prairie. Their herd consists of approximately 200 head of these historic cattle.

      Child of D
ORA SCOTT and GROVER DAMUTH is:
315. i.   SCOTT8 DAMUTH, b. 15 October 1953, Magnolia, Texas.
