Albert Boerma was born October 13, 1871 in Usquert, Gronening Province, Netherland, and died October 06, 1950 in Morley, Mecosta Co., Mich. He married Clara Boerma on January 09, 1901 in Nunica, Mi, daughter of Jan Boerema.

Family legend as told by Jannetta Boerema Yank:
Not knowing his father's name Albert took the name Boerma ( mother's maiden name). His grandmother ( Wejke Eppes
Boerma) took him after Alike and Peiter married. He stayed with Wejke until she immigrated to the U.S. in 1880.
Then he went back to his mother. Albert immigrated when he was 16. He was a stowaway and jumped ship at the port of entry. When Albert was 65 Henry and Richard told him that his father was really Peiter Hoek, but He refused to change his name as he felt it was to late.
Henry lived with Albert and Clara for 10 years. Ben and Nick lived with them as well for awhile.

According to FTM Immigration CD # 269 and " Dutch Immigrants in U.S. Ship Passenger Manifests, 1820 - 1880: An Alphabetical listing by Household Heads and Independent Persons" 2 volume set by Robert P. Swierenga, Professor of Dutch Studies this information was found on Albert. " Albert Boerema, age 20, born 1870-1871, immigrated to Muskegon, Michigan from Usquert in 1881. Reason for emigration: alternative to prison.

Albert and Clara Boerma were, according to all research done, first cousins. Alberts mother and Clara's father were siblings.
