He married Ruth Griffith on December 21, 1769 in Prince Georges Parish, Fredrick, Maryland.

Amon inherited the plantation, " Rich Neck ", and also "Riggs Hills", after his father died in 1762. He lived on the planation for about 10 years before he moved to Franklin County. Amon's will is dated 27 November 1818, in it he mentioned his wife and the following children, Henry, John and Charles (deceased). He served as Captain in the Montgomery County Militia. His commission was issued on 26 May 1776 ( Archives of Maryland).
