483 i. Robert William Beaver was born on May 10 1943 in Marietta, Ohio. ⁽¹³¹⁾ He graduated in 1961 from Marietta High School, Marietta, Ohio. He graduated in 1965 from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. He died on Apr 1 1968 in Belpre Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. ⁽¹³¹⁾ The circumstances of his death was reported in the newspaper as follows, "Driver Killed As Car Wraps Around Pole - A man identified as Bob Beaver was killed last night in a one car accident just below Belpre city limits on Rt. 618 (old Rt. 50), when his car, a late model Plymouth, went out of control in a curve, skidded about 118 feet on the highway, then went onto the berm for another 180 feet, before literally wrapping itself about a power pole. - The man was pinned in the car, his legs partially severed, and although he was still living (but not conscious) when the Belpre Rescue Unit arrived, he died before he could be extricated from the wreckage. - The accident occurred at 8:45 p.m. and was discovered by the Rev. Keith R. Mann, who went to a nearby telephone to notify authorities and summon help. - Deputy Sheriff Jim Vickers, who conducted the investigation, is authority for skid measurements. - It was necessary for a wrecker to pull the car top up from the floor before the body could be removed from the wreck. - Coroner Kenneth Owen was called to the scene, but was unable to complete his investigation until he could examine the body more thoroughly at the Doudna and McClure Funeral Home, where it was taken after first being removed to the fire station in Belpre to await instructions from relatives. - The body was identified by Ptl. Charles Durham of the Marietta Police Dept., a brother-in-law of the victim. - Investigators said the car travelled over an embankment and sheared an eight inch tree before coming to a halt around the pole, which it struck with sufficient force to bend the vehicle, frame and all, into a wide "V" shape. - Beaver, an employee of Shell Chemical Corp., had moved to Belpre from Marietta only a short time ago, and was living in an apartment. - Debris scattered at the scene indicated the man may have been on the way to a laundromat, since cleaning materials and a clothes basket, together with articles of clothing were in evidence." - Investigation is being continued by the Washington County Sheriff's Dept. and other officials, it was reported late last night." He was buried in Valley Cemetery, Reno, Ohio.
