FIRST GENERATION1. Thomas Hawkins (1) was born in 1758 in Charles Co., Maryland. (2) He was enlisted in the Virginia Militia in 1776 or 1777 in Loudoun Co., Virginia.(3) He served 8 months. He immigrated before 1800 to Monongalia Co., Virginia (now WV). (4) He immigrated about 1815 to Wood County, Virginia (now WV). (5) According to John H. Cunningham III, "In 1818, 75 acres of land near Plum Run in Wood County, Virginia was deeded to Thomas Hawkins. In 1825 the same land was deeded to John Hawkins by Thomas Hawkins and Sarah, his wife. It was noted as the "land on which William Locker now lives." That same year John and Mary Hawkins deeded the 75 acres to a Phillip Reed. Earlier that year, Phillip Reed had deeded to John and Mary Hawkins, 50 acres of land on Haughlan (Houghlands) run, a branch of Big Run in Wood County." He immigrated about 1825 to Union Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. (6) He died on Nov 8 1832 in Washington Co., Ohio.(7) According to Nora Henline, Thomas Hawkins was a crippled veteran who moved from Wood County, Virginia (WV) to Washington County, Ohio in the late 1820s. "He was so crippled he had to have the clerk of courts come to his house to fill out his war pension. He died two weeks later leaving his wife Sarah and a son, John." Thomas
