80. William "Martin" Martin Johnson was born on Nov 1 1903 in Decatur Township, Washington Co., Ohio. He died on Dec 19 1998 in Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio. His December 21, 1998 Marietta Times obituary reads, "W. Martin Johnson - VINCENT - William Martin Johnson, 95, of Washington County 805, Vincent, died Saturday (Dec. 19, 1998) at Marietta Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. - He was born Nov. 1, 1903, in Decatur Township to Israel Amos and Anne Wilmoth Johnson. He had lived all his life in the Vincent area and had worked for the Washington County Highway Department. - After his retirement, he worked at Roush Horse Farm in Veto for 14 years. He had also farmed in his early life. He was a Protestant by faith. - He is survived by one son, Allen R. Johnson and his wife, Dolores, of Vincent; one grandson, Michael Johnson and his wife, Stefanie, of Galloway; one granddaughter, Barbara Eversole and her husband, Ron, of Hilliard; four great-grandchildren, Marissa and Zachary Eversole, both of Hilliard, and Caitlin and Allison Johnson, both of Galloway; and one son-in-law, Wayne Doherty of Vincent. - He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Frances Johnson Johnson, on Jan. 9, 1995; one daughter, Ann Doherty; his parents; two sisters, Helen Johnson and Maude Carpenter; and one brother, Willard Johnson. - Services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Ohio 339 with Pastor Robin Swinsburg officiating. Burial is in Barlow Central Cemetery. Friends may call anytime Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. - Memorial contributions may be made to the Barlow Township Volunteer Fire Department and Squad, P.O. Box 115, Vincent, Ohio 45784. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home."
He was buried on Dec 23 1998 in Barlow Cemetery, Barlow, Ohio.
