36. Cory "Cora" Leander Ritchie(34) was born on Dec 23 1880 in Constitution, Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. (68)(69) He wasn't even a year old when his father died. The 1900 Census lists his name as Cora L. Richie, age 19, a day laborer, living with his widowed mother. In the 1900 Marietta City directory he is listed as a chair factory worker and living at 771 Buckeye Ave. In the 1902-1903 city directory he is listed as a laborer living at 325 South Seventh St. In the 1914-1915 and 1916-1917 city directories his home is at 131 Gilman Avenue. In the 1919- 1920 city directory he is listed as a fireman and lived at 116-1/2 Maple Street. In all the above city directories he is listed as Cory Ritchey. I assume he was named after his father, i.e. his name probably was Cory Leander Ritchie, Jr.
He was married to Catherine Carpenter (daughter of James Carpenter and Alice Pyles) on Oct 10 1910 in Washington County, Ohio.(70) The where married by Elijah A. Coil, a Unitarian minister. Catherine Carpenter was born on Feb 5 1875 in Washington County, Ohio.(71)
