46. Theodore "Win" Winford Ritchie was born on Sep 29 1881 in Washington County, Ohio. (77) At the age of 18 he is listed as a single head of household in the 1900 Census. His household included his brother Floyd age 17 and two sisters, Cordelia (Wilson) age 21 and Mattie age 14. These children were on thier own at an early age because of the breakup of their parents household. He died on Jun 19 1967 in Lockhart, Texas. He was buried in Lawson Cemetery, Yale, Oklahoma.
He was married to Nelle "Nellie" Fern Schoonover
(daughter of Manuel Wilson and Minnie Etta
Schoonover) on Jan 28 1903 in Constitution, Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio.
(78) There marriage application was signed
by Nellie's step-father, Albert Ritchie, as giving consent. They were married
by Rev, Charles P. Conetet, a United Brethren minister. Winford had three children
listed in the 1910 Federal Census of Washington Co.: Lawrence L., Livert Clayton
and Helen C. Winford and Nellie, along with several others, moved to Oklahoma
around 1912 because work was available in the oil fields. Along with them went
the families of Albert and Minnie Ritchie, Earl and Mazie Ritchie, Hollie and
Hazel Park and possibly others. According to my great-aunt, Thelma Masters,
they returned in 1941 for a visit accompanied by sons Leonard, Kenneth, Neal,
and Orval Ritchie. Thelma referred to them as the Oklahoma Ritchies.
Nelle "Nellie" Fern Schoonover was born on Jan 27 1887
in Constitution, Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. She died on Feb 8 1971 in
Luling, Texas.(79) She was buried in
Lawson Cemetery, Yale, Oklahoma. Theodore "Win" Winford Ritchie and
Nelle "Nellie" Fern Schoonover had the following children:
