7. George W. Richey (14) was born on Feb 9 1854 in Newport Twp., Washington Co., Ohio.(5) He died on Mar 11 1938 in Eight Mile, Newport Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. His obituary appeared in the Friday March 11, 1938 edition of the Marietta Times and read; "GEORGE W. RICHEY TAKEN BY DEATH - George W. Richey, 84, life long resident of Newport Township and a retired farmer, died at his home at eight mile on Friday at 6 a. m. following decline. - Mr. Richey was a son of the late John Calhoun Richey and Frances Marshall Ritchey. He married Caroline Close in 1874. She died in 1918. - Surviving are two sons and five daughters, Leon Ritchey, John Richey and Mrs. Jessie Smith of the family home at Eight Mile; Mrs. Lizzie Hastings of Beverly; Mrs. Lucy Becker, Mrs. Millie Wires and Mrs. Beatrice Theobald of Marietta. There are 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Brothers and sisters of Mr. Richey are Thomas Richey and Mrs. Mary Close of Marietta; Mrs. Hannah Haynes of Yankeeburg and Mrs. Reese Mendenhall of Eight Mile. - Funeral Services will be held at Doudna and McClure funeral parlors on Sunday at 1 p.m. Interment will be made in Beech Grove cemetery." He was buried on Mar 13 1938 in Beech Grove Cemetery.

He was married to Caroline "Carrie" Close (daughter of John T. Close and Elizabeth -?-) on Feb 10 1874 in Washington County, Ohio. (37) Caroline "Carrie" Close (7) was born on Aug 1 1850 in Ohio. (5) She died on Jan 26 1918 in Eight Mile, Newport Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. Her obituary appeared in the Sunday Morning Observer of January 27, 1918 as follows: "Following three months illness due to a complication of diseases, Mrs. George Ritchie passed away at her home near eight mile, Saturday afternoon, at two o'clock. Mrs. Ritchie was a woman well like and held in highest esteem by her neighbors and her death is a great shock to the community. - Besides her husband the deceased is survived by the following children: Lynn (Leon - mistake in newspaper), John and Cleveland Ritchie, Mrs. Lucy Becker and Mrs. Beatrice Theobald and Mrs. Dean Smith both of Eight Mile; Mrs. George Wires, of Akron, and Mrs. Lizzie Hastings of near Beverly. She also leaves three brothers, Charles and Daniel Close, of Long Run, and Martin Close, of Marietta. - Arrangements for the funeral have not yet been completed." She was buried in Beech Grove Cemetery. George W. Richey and Caroline "Carrie" Close had the following children:

His obituary appeared in the Monday December 14, 1953 edition of the Marietta Times and read; "Leon Richey, 77, well known fruit grower of Washington Co., died Saturday afternoon at his home at Pot Pie in Newport Twp. - A native of Washington Co., Mr. Richey was associated in the fruit growing business for a number of years in Newport Twp. with his brother John Richey. - He was born Jan. 3, 1876 in Newport Twp., a son of the late George and Caroline Close Richey. - Surviving brothers and sisters are John Richey of the home; Mrs. Lucy Becker of Irving Tex.; Mrs. Millie Wires of Marietta; Mrs. Beatrice Theobald of Marietta Route 5 and Mrs. Jessie Smith, also of the home. Two brothers, Roy and Cleveland Richey, and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Hastings, are deceased. - Funeral services will be Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Doudna & McClure funeral home. Burial will be in the Valley Cemetery." He was buried on Dec 15 1953 in Valley Cemetery, Reno, Ohio.

His obituary appeared in the December 28, 1953 edition of the Marietta Times and read; "John Richey, 76, a prominent fruit grower of Newport Twp., died Saturday at 11 p.m. at his home in Pot Pie. - Mr. Richey was associated for many years in the fruit growing business with his brother Leon Richey who died on December 12, 1953. - He was born Sept. 6, 1877 in Newport Twp., a son of the late George and Caroline Close Richey. - Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Lucy Becker of Irvins Tex., Mrs. Millie Wires of Marietta, Mrs. Beatrice Theobald of Marietta Rt. 5 and Mrs. Jessie Smith, of the home. Three brothers, Roy Richey, Cleveland Richey and Leon Richey, and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Hastings, preceded him in death. - Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Doudna & McClure funeral home. Burial will be in the Valley Cemetery." He (or she) was buried on Dec 29 1953 in Valley Cemetery, Reno, Ohio.
