Thomas Carwin Richey (14) was born on Oct 1 1857 in Ohio (probably Newport Twp., Washington Co.).(35) His obituary says he was born in the Rainbow area of Muskingum Township, but this is very doubtful. Census records tend to indicate he was born and lived his childhood in Newport Township. He appeared on the census in 1920 in Muskingum Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. He died on Nov 15 1938 in Williamstown, West Virginia. (35) His obituary appeared in the Tuesday November 15, 1938 edition of the Marietta Times and read; "T. C. RICHEY DIES IN WILLIAMSTOWN - Thomas C. Richey, 81, whose home was on Muskingum Drive, a life long resident of Muskingum Township, died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Briggs, 435 Columbia Avenue, Williamstown, W. Va., on Tuesday at 5 a.m. He went to the Briggs home for a visit about six weeks ago. The body is taken to Doudna and McClure's. - Mr. Richey was a son of the late John and Frances Marshall Richey. He was born in the Rainbow neighborhood in Muskingum Township on October 1 1857. On October 16, 1879, he married Julia B. Hoff. She died January 24, 1938. Surviving are his daughters, Mrs. Nettie Briggs of Williamstown; Mrs. Bertha Boeshar of Cairo, W. Va., and Mrs. Oma Weinstock of Winetka, Ill. There are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Sisters of the decease are Mrs. Mary Close of Marietta; Mrs. Hannah Haynes of Long Run and Mrs. Reese Mendenhall of Eight Mile. A brother, George Richey, and a sister, Mrs. Jacob Theobald, died recently. There are a number of nephews and nieces. - Mr. Richey was a member of Harmar Lodge No. 390, Free and Accepted Masons; of America Union Chapter No. 1, Royal Arch Masons; of Marietta Council No. 78, Royal and Select Masters, and of the Order of Eastern Star." He was buried in East Lawn Memorial Park, Reno, Ohio.

He was married to Julia "Lin" Bilinda Hoff (daughter of George W. Hoff and California McCallister) on Oct 16 1879 in Washington County, Ohio.(40) They were married by M. S. Riddle, a United Brethren In Christ Minister. Julia "Lin" Bilinda Hoff(7) was born on Sep 23 1859 in Ohio.(5) She appeared on the census in 1900 in Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. According to this census she mothered 4 children with 3 still living. She died on Jan 24 1938 in Marietta, Ohio. (35) Her obituary appeared in the Tuesday January 25, 1838 edition of the Marietta Times and read; " MRS. JULIA RICHEY TAKEN ON MONDAY - Mrs Julia Hoff Richey, aged 78, died at her home on Muskingum Drive at 5:20 p.m. Monday following a week's illness. She was the wife of Thomas C. Richey. - Mrs. Richey was the daughter of the late George W. and California McCallister Hoff, and was a life-long resident of Marietta. She was a member of the United Brethren Church, and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 59. - She was married to Mr. Richey on October 16, 1879. The husband and three daughters survive. Daughters are Mrs. Nettie Briggs of Williamstown, W. Va., Mrs Bertha Boeshar of Cairo, W. Va., and Mrs. Naomi Weinstock of Winnetoka, Ill. Another child died in infancy. There are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. George Hoff, of Newport, is a brother. - Funeral services will be held at the home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with burial in the Valley Cemetery. Doudna & McClure will be in charge." She was buried in East Lawn Memorial Park, Reno, Ohio. Thomas Carwin Richey and Julia "Lin" Bilinda Hoff had the following children:
