She was married to Samuel Hunter (son of
David Hunter and Elizabeth Mellan) on Apr 19 1855 in Washington
County, Ohio.(9) They were married by
Rev. Samuel D. Jones. The following is from Williams History of Washington County;
"Samuel Hunter was born in Pennsylvania in 1833; married Ellen Ritchie,
who was born in 1832. Their children are dead. They have an adopted son, Emerson
Burnett Hunter. Mr. Hunter has a farm of sixty-seven acres in Newport Township,
where he resides." Wallace Ritchie is in their household in the 1880
Census, the son of Isaac Ritchey, Ellen's younger brother.
Samuel Hunter(7) was born in 1833
in Pennsylvania.(8) Ellen J. Ritchey and
Samuel Hunter had the following children:
