29. Emerson Bennett Ritchie (5) was born on Apr 23 1880 in Newport Twp., Washington Co., Ohio.(65) He died on Apr 4 1923 in Marietta, Ohio.(66) His Marietta Times obituary reads: "DEATH TAKES E. B. RITCHIE - Emerson Bennett Ritchie, 36, died at his home, 305 Pike street, at noon on Wednesday, following a brief illness with influenza and complications. His condition had been serious only a short time. Mr. Ritchie was born in Newport township, a son of the late St. Clair Ritchie, and had he lived until April 20th, he would have been 36 years of age. He had been a resident of Marietta for the past six years and was employed by the Standard Pipe & Supply company. The deceased is survived by his widow, formerly Miss Eva Riley, of Watertown, and by two sisters, Mrs. Frank Peters, of Third street, Marietta, and Mrs. May Purback, of Cleveland." The age given in the obituary is wrong, he would have been 43 on April 20, 1923. He was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Marietta, Ohio. (23)
