The Robinson Family of the Hudson Highlands

Updated July 3, 2005

My ancestry is deeply rooted in the Catskill Mountains and the Hudson River Valley of New York. Many of my ancestors were the original Dutch settlers of Wiltwyck (i.e., Kingston). I am descended from most the founding French Huguenot families of New Paltz, many of the early Palatine Germans who came to the colony of New York as part of Queen Ann's emigration plan of 1711, as well as my various English, Irish, Scottish, and other colonial ancestors. I am particularly proud of my Iroquois, native American ancestors.

On my maternal grandmother's side of the family my ancestors were 19th century immigrants to America. The O'Briens emigrating to Brooklyn in the very early 1800's from Ireland and the Desliva's from Portugal via London, and my great grandfather, Anders Johansson Teir who was born in Narpes, on Finland's Sewdish-speaking west coast in 1849 and died in Brooklyn, New York in 1916.
