[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 1, Ed. 1, Tree #0921, Date of Import: Aug 31, 1999]

Letitia Reddish was born in Kentucky in 1801 or 1803. In the documents I've found, her name has various spellings: Letitia, Leticia, Lettitia.

Founders and Patriots of the Republic of Texas, p. 214, indicates Leticia Reddish was born May 2, 1801, died in 1885, and married David Myers in 1820. The same book, on page 560, indicates Letitia Reddish was born in 1803 in Kentucky, and died in Dallas County, Texas.

According to the Compendium of American Genealogy (Virkus) Volume 6, page 381, she was born in 1801, died in 1885, and married David Myers in 1821.

The Memorial and Biographical History of Dallas County, Texas, published by the Lewis Publishing Company, 1892, provides this sketch of David Myers:

Myers, Elder David, a Baptist preacher and patriarch of a large family, came [to Dallas County] from Illinois in 1845 - left a fine record as a Christian pioneer. Born in Kentucky, he came [to Dallas County] from Jersey County, Illinois. Elder Myers organized the first and still the well known "Union" Baptist church in Dallas county, May 10, 1846, the original members being J. B. Lee and wife, P.A.; Franklin Bowles; Letitia Myers [David's wife] and John M. Myers, of whom the latter is the only survivor. Thomas Keenan and wife, and Mrs. Keziah Myers [John M.'s wife] were the first three additions to the church. His children are married in the following paragraph:

Nancy, married J. W. Chowning, in 1834, came [to Texas] in 1845;
John M. (the second elder) married in 1842 Keziah Wiley, came [to Texas] in 1845;
Emeline married J. H. Whitlock; came [to Texas] in 1845; died early;
Elizabeth married William Barnes and died soon;
Sarah married A. J. Clark, an old Texan (Harvey C. Clark, of Dallas, is their son);
B. C. married Penina Fyke;
Jemima married Archer Fyke;
Mary married D. H. Wise;
George W. married Lucy Peak, in Illinois;
Harriet married A. G. Brant.

Elder David Myers has a hundred descendants, mostly in Texas.

The 1820 Census for Grayson County, KY, lists:
David Myres, age 16-26 years, living with a female, also 16-26 years of age; engaged in agriculture. Quite possibly this is our David and Letitia Myers, as their son John Miller Myers was born in Grayson County, Kentucky, in 1823.
This census also lists a William Myers in Grayson County, in the 26-45 year age bracket, living with one female in the same age bracket, one female under 10 years and one slave in the 14-26 year age bracket. This could be a brother of David; is too young to be David's father, who would have been 69 years old in 1820.
This census also listed 2 David Myers in Lincoln county, but neither looked right.

The 1850 Census for Dallas County, Texas, Roll 910, page 98 lists:

David Myers Age 53 Farmer Born Kentucky Value of Real Estate Owned: 700
Lettitia Age 47 Born Kentucky
Clever(n?)(?)Age 18 Farmer Born Illinois (name difficult to read); this is probably the B.C. referred to above
Jemima Age 17 Born Illinois
George W. Age 13 Born Illinois
Thomas Age 11 Born Illinois (he is not mentioned above)
Mary Age 9 Born Illinois
Harriet Age 4 Born Texas
Jemima and Mary were attending school during the census year.

Also listed on the same page as the Myers is Pennina Fike, age 19, born in Tennessee. Penina married B.C. (Clever?)

The 1870 Census for Dallas County, Texas, Precinct 4, Post Office Dallas, p. 392:

Brant, A. G. Age 26 White Male Farmer Born in Missouri
Value of Real Estate - $500 Value of Personal Estate - $700
Brant, Harriet J., Age 25 White Female Housekeeping Born Texas
Anna B., Age 9 White Female Born Texas
Mary E., Age 6 White Female Born Texas
Daniel C., Age 3 White Male Born Texas
Myers, Leticia Age 67 White Female Born KY
Cummings, Martin Age 30 White Male

The 1880 Texas Census, Dallas County, E. D. 61, p. 177:
Tyke, Janet, Age 47, widowed, farming, born TX; parents born KY
- George Age 17, son, born TX, father born TX, mother born TN(?)
- Archer Age 14, son, born TX, father born TX, mother born TN
Myers, Letitia, Age 78, mother (of Janet), widowed, born KY,
father born Ireland, mother born KY
This name "Janet Tyke" probably should be Jemima Fyke (The "T" in Tyke was difficult to read). Also, the birthplace for "Janet" is shown as Texas, while the birthplace for her sons' mother (her) looked like TN. The inclusion of Letitia Myers, Jemima's mother, indicates this entry is for Janet Fyke.
