Notes for Agnes Niegen Ro'Sen: [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 27, Ed. 1, Tree #3066, Date of Import: May 30, 2001] In 1652 in the Löwenberg and Siebengebirge district, south of Bonn, 61 Mennonite households were listed. Most were weavers and vine-dressers. The newly Catholic government gave these people two years to vacate the territory. About 1654, Arnold Schumacher's widow and her children sold the family "house and hof" at Niederdollendorf, "for the sake of their faith." Three of the six children were minors. Loading their "movables" on a boat, they sailed upstream, south toward Mainz, from which they eventually reached and settled in Kriegsheim. - "Maintaining the Right Fellowship" by John L. Ruth - Agnes's property included "many meadows, vineyards, and lands in and around the Siebengebirge, cooling equipment, stable and furniture for 1440 taler. From this money, they had to take 300 taler for debts, but the estate was divided among the children. The family estate was from the mother's not the father's side." - "Shoemaker Pioneers" by Benjamin H. Shoemaker, III - Had 6 children, 3 sons and 3 daughters. Names of two daughters not known; birth order not known. |
