1. E. Lamar Ross. GEDCOM file imported on 21 Aug 1999.
2. 1850 Census, listed as 2 year old, and born in Ohio. Birthplace
could be Tuscarawas County, since that is where their marriage took place in
1840, and census recorders often used the birthplace of parents as that of their
offspring. There is an Elizabeth J. Anderson, 6 yrs and 5 months given as d/Wm.&R
with a 16 March 1831 death date. This could have been the correct person with
the 1851 date read as 1831. There are several discrepancies here that have to
be resolved.
3. Tuscarawas County, Ohio Cemetary Records, Vol. VI, p. 158
gives James R., s/Wm.&R as 24 Sep 1831, probably a typographical or reading
error of gravestone, since the age would be consistent with 1850 Census records
if the year is 1851.

9. 7/29/94: Calculated date based on death date and age of 84
years, 2 months and two days given in her daughter Esther Kennedy Ross' personal
"Copy Book", copy in possession of E. Lamar Ross.
Information from the Ancestral File of LDS in Family Group Record of Moses Washington
Kennedy and Esther Bunnell gives the birthdate as 17 May 1784. In the absence
of other documents, I prefer to use the calculated birth date above. "Esther"
is consistent with wife's name on will, thus tying "this" Esther to
Hetty Esther Kennedy, wife of James Ross. The family group record also lists
male children by the name of Amos and Moses Kennedy which were not listed in
Moses W. Kennedy's Will. Amos is documented in "Pioneer Families of North-
western New Jersey, p. 455 as a son of first wife Sara Hart. A son Moses has
not been found as of the 7/29/94.

where she kept births, deaths, ages, etc.] - Original in hands of great-grandson,

Gravestone gives date as 27 Feb 1865 or four days later. I prefer to use the
written family record as the correct date.

43. In a section called "Ministry of the Reverend Samuel
Kennedy, M.D, 1751-1787" in A History of the The Presbyterian Church at
Basking Ridge, (p11 & p12), it states that Dr. Kennedy was the brother of
David, Earl of Cassilis in Scotland. Family history handed down by word of mouth
tells of further attempts by the family to establish their rights to Culzean
Castle over the years. The " The Peerage of Scotland" by John Philip
Wood, does not mention Dr. Samuel Kennedy as being one of the six children (out
of twenty) of Sir John Kennedy of Culzain who lived to be adults. In a letter
to a Mrs. Simonds, dated 11/12/80, Sid Kennedy wrote the following: "...state
there were 20 children born to Sir John and Jean (Douglas) Kennedy at Culzean
Castle in Ayrshire, Scotland. Most of the children did no live very long, but
we do know that Thomas and David lived to both become Earls of Cassillis. If
Samuel had lived longer, he would have succeeded to the Earldom before his brother
David". DIRECT PROOF OF THE CONNECTION STILL HAS TO BE PROVEN. (ELR 11/19/94).

which lists his age at death as "forty seven years one month and sxi days.
Age given as 28 in 1850 Census on 9 Aug 1850., Age given in 1860 Census as 41
born in PA. One would place his birth in 1822, the other in 1819. Since the 1830
Census of Robert Ross, James' father lists two sons in the age categories of
10-15, and 15-20, and since family history states that Joseph was the oldest,
at this time I am going to use the 1819 date. This is also in keeping with the
Robert Ross' 1840 Census in which his two sons were in the 20-30 age group.
60. From Esther Kennedy Ross' "Copy Book".
61. Calculated from age on cemetary record. This puts her
only 6 days younger than her sister Rebecca if the grave records were to be correct.
This is doubtful. Robert Ross' Will states that Rebecca is the oldest daughter
but we do not at this point know which of the calculated birthdates (if either)
is correct.

62. Tuscarawas County, Ohio Cemetaries, Vol. VI, p. 127.
63. A birth date of 28 Sep 1815 is calculated from burial record
on gravestone. This conflicts with 1850 Census which lists her as 39 years of
age (ABT 1811), and born in PA. This needs to be checked. She is listed in Robert
Ross' Will as the oldest daughter, but the calculated age would make her only
6 days older than Mary McCullough, her next oldest sister, if we use the calculated
birth date from her cemetary record. Since she was the oldest, I am going to
use the 1811 date until further proof can be gathered on birth date of both daughters.
