Includes NotesNotes for Catherine Sadie Abernathy:
Catherine Sadie Abernathy was born a month premature (she told us
she was small enough to cradle in a shoe box), and with only one kidney.

Her mother, Winifred, had taken ill several months into pregnancy
after eating tainted (or uncooked) pork, and as a result, Winifred
suffered permanent mental illness, mild at first but degenerative
(she was placed in a nursing home shortly after her husband Clyde's death).

It is believed her mother's illness during pregnancy resulted in Catherine's
'missing kidney'.

Catherine enjoyed fairly good health until late summer 1987, when she was
diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
