FIFTH GENERATION
21. Margaret CREEK
(1) was born on 9 Jan 1818 in Monroe County,
Kentucky. She died on 13 Mar 1880 in Monroe County, Kentucky. She was buried
in Neal Cemetery, Flippin, Kentucky. Mother of James Smith Creek, Father was
unnamed BUSH,(never married), 1850 census of Barren County Kentucky proves this.
This information I got, and will write what was said about Margaret Creek, who
is my the sister of my great-great grandfather and she is also my my great-great
grandmother. Here is
the text of what i received:
Until I started looking for my ancestors, all researchers had James smith Creek
as Issac Creek's son. Issac is Margaret's brother. However, I knew of stories
told to me by Pa and Granny(Samuel and Bertha Creek) that Issac was not James'
father. What had to be done was to find documents to prove who was James' parents.
Other researchers helped to look for James' parents. Because I told them what
to look for, they found in 1850 Fed Census for Monroe County, Kentucky that Maragret
Creek married a Samuel M. Jenkins about 1845. In the house was James Smith Creek
born 1837. Also james' death certificate was found to say that his mother was
Margaret Creek and father unknown.
With that information and with the stories that Pa and Granny told me, which
were confirmed by Aunt Elizabeth and Aunt Fleta, it has been decieded that Margaret
and not Issac was James' parent.
The 1850 census for Monroe County says Margaret was 36 years old; which makes
her birth year about 1814. However her tombstone says she was born 9 January
1816 anddied 13 March 1880 or maybe 1886. The zero in my picture could not be
either a 0" or a 6". Next time I visit the Neal Cemetery in Flippin,
Kentucky I will double check. Children were:
