305. Floyd Wendell RIHERD ⁽²⁾ was born on 4 Jul 1923 in Storm Lake, Buena Vista County, Iowa. He died on 4 Nov 2000 in Mason City, Iowa. Wendell (Spinner) Riherd was born in Storm Lake, Iowa on July 4, 1923, the son of Clyde and Edna (Fanning) Riherd. He moved with his family to Crystal Lake where he attended school and graduated. He married Mae McColloch in Forest City, Iowa on October 28, 1945. The couple has made their home in Forest city their entire married lives. In addition to working on the railroad and raising sheep, Wendell spent over 50 years shearing sheep for area farmers. Ailing health caused him to cut back his hours but he never did retire. Heloved to play cards, especially cribbage. In 1982 he won the championship in the National Cribbage Tournament. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Forest City. He was a loving and supportive grandfather, attending as many of his grandchildren's activities as he could.
He is survived by his wife, Mae Riherd of Forest City, a daughter Nancy Harms of Forest City, two brothers, Wayne Riherd of Sioux City, IA and Thomas Riherd of Crystal Lake, IA, a sister Phyllis Wilber of Centralia, WA, a daughter-in-law, Sandy Hugelen of Forest City, Three gradchildren: John Riherd and fiancee Ali Swedlund, Jodi Sweers and husband Ben, Beth Heads and husband Chris, a great-grandson, A.J. Drabek along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Barbara Jean ans a son, Terry. He was buried on 7 Nov 2000 in Crystal Cemetery, Crystal Lake, Iowa. IN LOVING MEMORY OF
