Nemaha Delware Cemetery, Nemaha, Iowa. With his brother Clyde.
On Monday night, 2 November 1959, as he was opening a corn field north of the
house, he had stoped to clear a stalk that was stuck when another pushed his
right hand into the snapping rollers on the picker. His hand was amputated at
the wrist, at the Suoix Valley Hospital in Cherokee Iowa He was married to
Anna Marie HELLMANN (daughter of John Henry HELLMANN and
Sarah RICHARDSON) on 16 Jul 1927 in Storm Lake, Buena Vista County, Iowa.

Funeral services for Anna Marie Ryherd, 96, of Independence, formerly of Alta,
were held May 12, 2001 at Reiff Funeral Chapel, Independence.
Pallbearers were Roger Lohse, Donald Ryherd Jr., Dan Ryherd, Dennis Ryherd, Mike
Ryherd, Patrick Ryherd, Randy Ryherd and Douglas Ryherd.
Burial was at Nemaha Delaware Cemetery, Nemaha. Mrs. Ryherd passed away Thursday,
May 10, 2001 at East Towne Care Center, Independence.
Anna Marie, daughter of John and Sarah Richardson Hellman, was born March 28,
1905 in Warren, Mo. She moved as a small child with her family to the Nemaha
area. She attended country school and graduated from Nemaha High School. She
worked in the Early area after graduating.
On July 16, 1927 she married Billie D. Ryherd in Storm Lake. The couple farmed
and lived around the Storm Lake and Alta area. Mrs. Ryherd was a homemaker and
enjoyed cooking, sewing and crocheting. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Billie in 1982; two sons, Ronald
and Robert; one daughter, Margaret; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren;
a brother, Roy Hellman; and a sister, Edna Combes.
She is survived by two daughters, Marjorie Seufferlein of Winthrop and Sara and
husband Arlo Lorenzen of Rockford, Ill.; six sons, John and wife Pat of Fairbank,
Bill and wife Geri of Cedar Falls, Floyd and wife Betty and Charles and wife
Patricia, all of Alta, Donald and wife Jill of Madison, Mo. and Kenneth and wife
Kate of Hillsboro, Ore.; one daughter-in-law, Geraldine Ross, Oelwein; 32 grandchildren;
two step-grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren;
and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was buried on 12 May 2001 in Nemaha Delware Cemetery, Nemaha, Iowa. In

was born on
14 Dec 1933 in Sac County, Iowa. She died on 7 Apr 1954 in Storm Lake, Buena
Vista County, Iowa. She was buried in Nemaha Delware Cemetery, Nemaha, Iowa.
She graduated in Alta High School, Alta, Iowa. Margaret Ryherd
A popular 21 year old Alta girl, Margaret Ryherd, passed away Tuesday morning
at a Storm Lake hospital, where she had been a patient for the past week. Doctors
diagnosed her illness as a disease of the kidneys. However, her death came as
a sudden shock. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.D. Ryherd who live north
of Alta.
Services for Margaret were held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o'clock from the
Alta Presbyterian church. Rev. John Middents officiating. Burial was in the
Nemaha cemetery. Jones Funeral home in charge.
Margaret graduated in 1951 from Alta high school where she participated in vocal
music, Future Homemakers, dramatics and the annual staff. More recently she
had been employed in Sioux City.
Surviving are her parents; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Lohse of Sioux City, and
Sarah of Alta; seven brothers. Robert and John Henry of Waterloo, Floyd, Billy,
Merlin, Donald and Kenneth of Alta; two grandmothers, Mrs. John Ryherd of Monroe
county, KY. and Mrs. Henry Hellmann of Nemaha.
