He was baptized on 26 Apr 1767 in St Paul's Lutheran Church at Red Hill, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Sponsor or Godparent: Ludwig Gottge and wife He Migrated about 1794 in Barren River, Kentucky-Tennessee. Arrived in the central Kentucky-Tennessee border area on the Barren River about 1794.

Moved to Kentucky about 1794. He was the first Riherd to cross the mountain barrier between Kentucky and Virginia

He was married to Catherine HUCTSPRETH (daughter of Asia HUCTSPRETH and Sarah) before 1794. Catherine HUCTSPRETH ⁽²⁾ was born about 1766 in Surrey County, North Carolina. She died in Monroe County, Kentucky. Johan Leonhart (Lewis) REICHERT and Catherine HUCTSPRETH had the following children:
