NINTH GENERATION290. Daniel AVIÉNY was born about 1659 in Abriés, Haute-Alpes, France. (239) Migration records in 1685 cite his age as 26 years. He was a shoemaker before 1685 in Abriés, Haute-Alpes, France. He emigrated in 1685.(240) He appears in Geneva on November 9, 1685. He was directed to go from Zurich to Schaffhausen (Switzerland) on November 30, 1695. With him was his brother, Pierre. On February 8, 1686 he registered in Heidelberg, Germany (the Palatinate) and then went on to Hofgeismar by February 28, 1686. With him in Hofgeismar were his brother Pierre and a Jacques Aviény. At this point he appears to have returned home to Abriés to get his family and then return to the Palatinate via Piedmont (Italy). On February 1, 1687 he appears again in Heidelberg, having come from Piedmont, and then goes to Langenzell. He was a consul between 1687 and 1694 in Langenzell, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. He resided between Mar 1687 and Nov 1688 in Langenzell, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.(241) The Huguenot refugees had to abandon their settlement in Langenzell because of the French invasion. they sought refuge again in Switzerland. There is record of Daniel and his wife and children in Zurich in December 1688. They received aid to go to St. Gall. After the French withdrew from the east banks of the Rhine in the Palatinate the refugees were able to return to Langenzell. He resided between Aug 1689 and Sep 1693 in Langenzell, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. (242) Again the French invaded in 1693 and Langenzell was destroyed in the process. The Aviény family moved to Erlangen for the winter months. He was a secretary for the colony between 1694 and 1717 in Wilhelmsdorf, Bayern, Germany.(243) His job was to keep all the books for the consistorium, make the entries and collect the documents. Eugene Bellon relates a story told to him by W. Aviény that Daniel Aviény came into conflict with Baron Buirette when Buirette demanded the right of patronage for himself. Daniel represented the view of the church which does not acknomledge a right of patronage. In order to clear the matter up, Daniel went to Berlin and had an audience with the Prussian king. His travel expenses were paid by the Wilhelmsdorf parish. He resided between Feb 1694 and 1717 in Wilhelmsdorf, Bayern, Germany.(244) He owned a building which included a barn, cellar, and stable, behind which there was a newly built house. There was a small tannery under the building, next to the stream, and also an oven for baking. In land he owned 13 1/2 acres of fields and 2/3 acres of meadow. He died after 1717 in Wilhelmsdorf, Bayern, Germany. (245) This is the year of last recorded activity. He was married to Marie before 1694.(246) The marriage most likely took place in Langenzell but could have happened in Switzerland (St. Gall). 291. Marie. Children were:
