My research started off slowly after the death of my father in 1994. From his old and tattered birth certificate given me by my mother, I realized I know very little about my father's family background. I decided then to search out whatever information there are on the THOMs and other surnames in my family tree. Knowing there is a wealth of information out there especially with the advent of the internet, I find discovery is so rewarding and yet so elusive.

Our family of ancestors came from across Scotland, from Banffshire and Aberdeenshire, from Skye in Invernesshire, and from Ireland, to settle in Glasgow where they lived for nearly one hundred years from the 1870's to the 1960's.

Please noted that the information pertaining to the THOM name and other surnames in my family tree that I have compiled and researched, should be considered speculative until otherwise confirmed with documented proof.

On my father's side: THOM, Mac/McMILLAN, ANDREW, PATERSON, RAEBURN, MILNE.

On my mother's side: McDONALD, WHITE, LYONS, MULHOLLAND.
