James B. Doyle, one of the men connected to the bond forgeries, was sentenced to ten years in the penitentiary, by Judge Blodgett, in June, 1881. Judge Bangs, General Henderson, and Martin Shallenberger defended the prisoner.

Copied from her obituary from Kewanee, IL newspaper of June 1, 1903:
" At a Fourth of July celebration held over fifty years ago in the settlement where Bradford now is situated but which at that time had no name, Miss Betsie Ann Foster, Daughter of Bradford Foster, who afterward became Mrs. J. B. Doyle, was chosen from among a number of young ladies in the settlement to give the village a name. In honor of her father, she christened the settlement "Bradford" and this name it has since borne."

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Bradford, IL with Rev. Shoop officiating.
