27. Martin Anthony SCHETTLER (Private).

Theresa M. SCHOLTEN (daughter of John SCHOLTEN) was born on 2 Sep 1927. She died on 22 Apr 1998. She had pressure on her chest at 1 a.m. and Martin asked if he should call 911 and she said no. But the pressure didn't get any better so they took off for the hospital around 2:30 a.m. and Martin was speeding down the street and the police were after him and he told them to lead him to the hospital. While in the car in Sioux Falls Theresa said she couldn't breath and Martin opened the car windows and she sloped over and that was it. They tried to revive her at the emergency room but it didn't work. She died about 3:15 a.m. my mother was Theres's sister. She was with the family today and had just got home after I got to her house. Love Doug

Theresa M. Scholten was born September 2, 1927 at Alvord, Iowa to John and Alieda (Lens) Scholten. She grew-up and attended school in the Larchwood, Iowa area. She was a house cleaner and baby sitter in the Larchwood area. On September 3, 1946 she married Martin A. Schettler at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Larchwood. They made their home and farmed in the Larchwood area until 1950 when they moved to Sherman, S.D. Theresa and Martin farmed together until their retirement in 1982. She was an outstanding cook and baker. Theresa loved the family farm.

Theresa was a very active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, St. Rose Altar society, a Former president of the Altar Society, a former CCD teacher, a 4-H mother, a birthday club member, and a historian for family trees.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her husband; Martin of Sherman, one son; Keith of Sherman, three daughters; Barbara Schnieder of Brandon, Beverly Johnson of Baltic and Karen Peters of Parkston, S.D.. Five brothers; Joe of Sioux Falls, S.D., John of Dell Rapids, Cletus of Sioux Fall, George of Luverne, MN., Larry of Ivanhoe, MN., six sisters; Dorothy Schettler, Ann Burkhard both of Larchwood, IA., Irene Soldatke of Sioux Falls, Mary Lou Kearney of Primgar, IA., Veronica Tuschen of Salem, Rose Marie Carmen of Sioux Falls. Ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The Family of Theresa M. Schettler would like to thank you all for coming today and invite you to lunch in the church following the committal service.
She was buried on 24 Apr 1998 in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Garretson, South Dakota. Martin Anthony SCHETTLER and Theresa M. SCHOLTEN had the following children:
