A. Lee Conley
Was born September 17, 1845 in Henderson County, KY. and she was married to
John A. Conley September 10, 1867. Four Children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Conley,
two of ___ died in infancy.
She moved with her husband to Kansas in 1874, where they lived only one year
and then moved to Buillitt County, KY, where Mr. Conley died after a lingering
illness of six years, he having been afflicted with the dreaded disease _t consumption.
One son was taken away with the same disease in his twentieth years.
One son survives her who has made his home in Danville, Ill. Mrs. Conley came
to Danville, Ill., six years ago, where she has resided ever since. Her health
become so poor that in August1895, she went to live with her brother. Wm. W.
Lee, who resides two miles North of Danville, with whom she made her home until
her death. She was confined to the house from October 1895, and for the greater
part of the time to her bed. She passed away Wednesday morning February 24,
1897 and was laid to rest in Spring Hill cemetery Danville, Ill, Friday February
26th.
Mrs. Conley gave her heart to her Lord and Savior early in life and made full
pr off of the same by uniting with the Methodist Episcopal Church when she was
seventeen years old, She lived consistent Christian life, humble and lowly, meekly
following in the footsteps of her master. Here was not showy life, but one humble
love and ministrative in the name of the Divine, one. During her last illness
she bore with patience and fortitude the excessive pain which she suffered.
Her Bible was her constant companion, and as long as she was able she read and
reread its blessed pages, and to the very last it lay on her table in her room,
testifying to her devotion and faith to the son of God who came to seek and save
the lost. The memory and fragrance of her life will linger long is the hearts
of relations and friends who weep not as those have no hope, but as these who
have the blessed assurance that she is not dead, but sleeping and that Jesus
has taken her to live with Himself, as he has taken her loved ones who have gone
on before, "Let not you hearts be troubled, ye believe in God, believe in
me. In my Father house are many mansions. If it was not, I would have told
you. I go to prepare a place for you."
And now she has gone to dwell in the place prepared.
O Beautiful example,
For youthful minds to heed.
The good she did to other,
Shall never miss its meed.
The love of those who sorrow,
She lighted shall be ours,
And o'er the path she walked in
That love shall scatter flowers,

Sister, Thou hast left us,
Sister thou hast left us kidst the cares of life
To wander with anothers
Throug toil, troubles and strife.
The light that once show so bright
In this one happy home of ours,
Has gone out - forever and ever
Because thou disclaimed it forever.
Sister before Thou lift us
My heart was happy and gay
My home was the happiest place on earth
And these I was content to Stay.
But Alas! Thou hast-left us
My heart is no longer content
The happist hours at my home
I love now I know been spent
But as I am under age
my duty is, with Mother to stay
So I will and try to make my home
Cheerful, light, happing, and gay.
And should we us meet again
On this Side All conguesing Death
May we meet in heaven above
Where we will breath eternal breath
Now I bid you a long farwell
As you go out to Stern the world
May sunshine ever be thine
And happiness to thee unfurled
Your Brother
