Worthington DORSEY (son of Nicholas DORSEY and
Elizabeth WORTHINGTON) on 14 Dec 1779. Major Nicholas
Worthington DORSEY was born on 1 Nov 1759 in Anne Arundel County Maryland.
He served in the military in 1779 in MD. Dorsey

Annapolis, February 18, 1839, I Certify, that it appears by the Muster Rolls
remaining in the Office, that Nicholas Dorsey was appointed Lieutenant in the
4th Maryland, Regiment, on the 17th day April 1777 and resigned on the 10th day
of November 1778.

year eighteen hundred and Thirty-nine, before me the outsider, me of the justices
of the Peace in and for said County, appears Joshua Dorsey a resident of Montgomery
County and State aforesaid, and after and after having been duly sworn according
to Law, makes the following decoration to write that Nicholas Dorsey was out
in the flying camp the year before the received his Commission as Lieutenant
in the Regular Service During the Revolutionary War, and his further declares
that after the aforesaid Nicholas Dorsey left the service in the home he Married
Rachel Warfield, I was not at the Marriage but the Wedding party was at our fathers
the next day, Nicholas Dorsey being a brother of the departed Joshua Dorsey,
and that have been Intimately acquainted and of decided with them until the death
of my brother Nicholas Dorsey which death took place on the sixteenth day of
October Eighteen hundred and twenty one and since his death that Intimacy still
Continents between his Willow Rachel Dorsey and he further declares that she
has never since been Married but now remains his Willow. Joshua Dorsey

statement is a man of good standing in society and of unquestionable integrity

hundred and thirty nine, before me the Subsireber on the Justicesof the Peace,
in and for said County, appears, Joshua W. Dorsey, a resident of Montgomert County
and State aforesaid, and after having been duty sworn according to Law, makes
the following declarations to wit that he was Familarly acquainted with the family
record of Nicholas Dorsey and he believes the withinrecord to be a true copy
of the Origional Reccord by Nicholas Dorsey and in the hand viting of the Willow
of the aforesaid Nicholas Dorsey.

Joshua W. Dorsey who made the above statements is a Man of good Standing in society
and of unquestionable Integrity. Lloyd Dorsey
State of Maryland Montgomery County Act I herby Cectify that Lloyd Dorsey Gentleman
before whom (the bottom is missing.) He was 6th child of Nicholas &
Elizabeth Worthington. He resided Seneca River, live there until his death
in Montgomery County Maryland. The said Nicholas Worthington Dorsey
is the ancestor who assisted in establishing American Independence.
He volunteered in 1776, was a private in the "Flying Camp". He was
commissioned 4/17/1777 Lieutenant in Captain Samuel Godman's Co., Col. Howard's
Fourth Maryland Regiment.
He was in the battles of Brandywine, Germantown and Monmounth. He resigned 11/10/1778.
His widow was allowed a pension on her application executed 3/8/1839, at which
time she was living in Montgomery County Maryland.

Now, the Nicholas Dorsey as given in the Dorsey Family Bood just spoken of has
on its first page this:
TO THE MEMORY OF MILDRED AND DORSEY To whose preservation of the family records
is made possible the information herein.
These records written by her and begins with Nicholas Dorsey, who lived more
than two centuries ago.............. (According to my opinion this is a slight
error in calculation. Mrs William B. Bates Nee Mary Estell Dorsey)
Note: For the most part all the records and information printed herein are from
the original notes of Mildred Ann (Caldwell) Dorsey and no effort had been made
to change locations, dates, nor occurences other than those that time has made
a difference to relation to hose now living. Rachel Warfield DORSEY and Major
