FROSTPROOF - Mr. John Jay Cotton of Frostproff died Tuesday (August 22, 1995) at Lake Wales Hospital. He was 81.

Born in Samson, AL., on March 10, 1914, he moved to FROSTPROOF from Bowling Green 61 years ago. He was a retired loader for the Ben Hill Griffin Packing House. He was a member of Woodmen of the World. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.

He is survived by his wife, Cilla Mae Cotton, Frostproof; daughters, Patricia "Patsy" Spurlock, Rachael Talley and Linda G. Hood, all of Frostproff; son, Doyce Cotton, Frostproff; brothers, Thomas Cotton, Boone, N.C., Charlie Cotton, Kissimmee, and Malcolm Cotton, Sebring, sister, Erlene Maxwell and Lorene Johnson, both of Apopka; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Marion Nelson, Funeral Home, Frostproff. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Frostproff. He was buried on 25 Aug 1995 in Lake Wales, Florida.

Cilla Mae Jones COTTON was born on 25 Aug 1919 in Soperton, GA. She died on 22 Sep 2000 in Frostproof, Florida.

Cilla Mae Cotton

Cilla Mae Cotton, 81, of Frostproof, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000 at her
residence.

A native of Soperton, Ga., she came to the area in 1934 from Lyons, Ga. She
was a homemaker and was a member of the Frostproof Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Cotton in 1995 and by a
daughter, Ann Harnage in 1969.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Spurlock, Rachael Talley and Linda
G. Hood, all of Frostproof; a son, Doyce Cotton of Frostproof; three brothers,
Alton Jones of Frostproof, A.G. Jones of Elba, Ala., Junior Jones of Polk City;
five sisters, Katie Mosely of Avon Park, Reba Young and Faye Bryant, both of
Sebring, Ruth Jones and Floris Black, both of Bradenton; 12 grandchildren, 21
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Frostproof Church of God,
with the Rev. Carlton Anderson and the Rev. Darrol Hood officiating. Burial
will be held at Silver Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Marion
Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof on Tuesday, 6 to 8 p.m. Marion Nelson
Funeral Home, Frostproof She was buried on 27 Sep 2000 in Silver Hill Cemetery. She was Church of God in Frostproof, Florida. John Jay COTTON and Cilla Mae Jones COTTON had the following children:

She was murdered.
