Johann Simon Hennemann (son of George Christoph Hennemann and Maria Barbara Dutsh) was born April 09, 1784 in Oberleiterbach, Oberfranken, Bavaria, Germany, and died February 07, 1868 in Buffalo Grove, Cook, IL, USA. He married M. Kunigunda Dutsh on January 31, 1814, daughter of Peter Dutsch and Kunigunda Hertel.

The Hennemann line can be traced as far as the middle of the 17th century in the village of Oberleiterbach in the Oberfranken region of Bavaria, according to Gretchen Leisen in "Pioneer Progenitors: The Hennemann and Weidner Families' Pater Familias," in Pas Times, Vol. XVIII, September, 1990.

In 1846 a widower by the name of Johann Simon Hennemann brought his entire family to America. He was 62 years old at the time of his voyage.

According to Leisen, "After arriving in America, the Hennemann family went to Buffalo Grove, Illinois to settle down. This village was in Lake County, northwest of Chicago, but the border with Cook County ran through the village, making for some interesting history. In 1847 a priest from Waukegan was informed of a large group of German Catholics in Buffalo Grove, and he quickly went there on a missionary visit. According to the history of St. Mary's Church in Buffalo Grove, the first Mass was celebrated in the town in the fall of 1847 in the block house of Simon Hennemann."
