Barbara Biersdorf (daughter of Nick Biersdorf and Lucia Berg)3 was born March 01, 1871 in Faribault, Rice County, MN, and died November 16, 1953 in MN, USA. She married Peter Peters on February 19, 1895 in Faribault, MN, son of Peter Peters and Anna Maria Thiel.

 Includes NotesNotes for Barbara Biersdorf:
When Barbara Biersdorf was 13 years old, her mother died. Barbara did much of the baking, cooking, and cleaning. Her father, Nicholas, later remarried. His new wife was the former Josie Kitzman. Barbara told her family how difficult it was to adjust to a stepmother. Often her stepmother left home for days at a time because her stepchildren seemed to be "too much for her." It sounds as if a good relationship between them was never established. Six stepchildren was a big undertaking.

According to Catherine Peters Kuefler, "Mother (Barbara Biersdorf Peters) used to bake bread...the loaves were 8 or 9 inches high, and lots of goodies. And were they ever good! She sewed all our clothers and knitted socks for the whole family. Raised chicken and ducks. So was busy."

Catherine Peters Kuefler remembers, "When I was about 4 years old, our windmill was blown down. So Leo and I would ride on the wheel and had a great time. One day I got my right thumb caught in the cog and smashed it. We headed for the house, scared. Mother bandaged it and it healed okay, but it left my thumb wider and shorter than the left thumb."

Elaine Kuefler Price notes, "I remember Mother saying she drove Grandpa wherever he wished to go, as he never drove."

Thomas Weidner notes, "I remember how we used to take Grandma Peters to church in a toboggan."

According to Rose Marie Weidner Schleper, "Grandma Peters had to put up with a lot (and she did), livinjg with her grandchildren. We teased her a lot. When she donated the Statue of St. Joseph to the new church in Regal, we started calling her 'money bags.' Actually she didn't have a lot of money, she was just being generous with the money she had."

Marcelline Weider Schleper said, "Grandma Peters always told us what really mattered was what kind of soul a person had, not how "cute" (good looking) he was. As teenagers, we'd often comment on the looks of someone and we usually got this advice from her."

"Grandma Peters approached death in such a calm way, as you probably remember too. She told her children where to find everything important, just as if she was leaving on a trip, and then slept away," said Marcelline Weidner Schleper.
