David Smith was born in Scotland 1794. We think in the town of Dumphies. David Smith imigrated to Sampson County, NC. David Smith married Catherine Elizabeth Robinson. They had 11 children. Elizabeth, Sarah, Levina, George, Margaret, Mary, James,Robert, David, John, and Benjamin Smith.David Smith became a legal US citizen on February 15,1835. David owned around 800 acres of land in Sapmson County. David And his wife Catherine are both buried in the Smith Family Cemetary in Parkersburg, Sampson County, NC. Catherine Elizabeth Robinson (Smith) was born in Sampson County on January 28, 1804. Her parents are John D Robinson and Mary Poiteninte. Catherine died January 31, 1870.
The desendents of David Smith hold a Family Reunion on the first Saturday in August. The reunion is held at the First Baptist Church in Parkersburg, NC.
