About Our Family Research

My great gread grandfather (maternal) was Joseph Richard Allison. He was born in Virginia (possibly Campbell County or one of the surrounding counties) on 4 July 1778. His son, Richard B. Allison married Sarah W. Cobbs, daughter of William Tellis Cobbs and moved to Alabama in the early 1830s. His son, John Calvin Allison (16 July 1846) was my grandfather. He married Minnie Mildred Johnson. Carrie Etta Allison who married my father, Emanuel Ponter, were my parents. Both are deceased. To this union three sons were born: Tony Phene Ponter (1920-2003); James Emanuel Ponter (1921-1994); John Hubbard Ponter (11924-1988) and me, born 28 March 1929. I have been married 61 years to John Raymond Setters and we have one son, John Emanuel who is married to Emmally Martin. They have a son, John Marshall, married to Heather Leigh Cole and a daughter, Kelley Renee.
I published a book of my family and the community in the area we lived in Morgan County, Alabama in 1992. He is now out of print but is in several libraries, especially in Alabama
I am interested especially in finding how the name Hubbard applies to our family.
