| My Great Grandfather Martin Severinsen immigrated to New Zealand from Horsens, Denmark 10 May 1975 as a 19-year-old. He arrived at the Port of. Napier New Zealand 25 August 1875. He went inland to Central Hawkes Bay at Makaretu to settle on his 1500-acre farm. My Grandfather Walter Severinsen was the youngest of his nine children. Walter had 3 children my father Ross, his brother Ivan and sister Jewel. I was educated at Napier Boys’ High School and then at Massey University (Palmerston North, New Zealand) with a degree in Education. I became a primary school teacher, then a Principal of various schools. I was teaching at Napier Boys’ High School, my old school until 2001. I am now Head of Mathematics at Hukarere Girls College, in Napier, New Zealand. |
