The Shaw Family of Pennsylvania

Updated April 26, 2005

About Our Family Research

The Shaw family has people to be proud of. Ruth Hurleywho was a Native American, full blooded Blackhawk, was a medicine woman. She was adopted by a white family and married one of the sons. The last name was Hurley. A son George and a couple of grandsons did fight in the Civil War. The Hurleys were listed as malotto. This is false. A few are buried in Carson Valley Cemetary and one is buried in the Eastern Lights Cemetary.
