When Jesus said that "He came that we might have jay and that joy complete!" he must have had in mind men like Phil Shank, who would witness to that joy and be the kind of person who made it possible for others to experience that joy. Phil loved a good story, so he would approve of this: "Some people cause happiness whenever they go, others, wherever they go" Now Phil was the latter. He brought joy to the many congregations he served, college friends, school students and his family. The one attribute that so blessed others was the ability to make one's day brighter. Surely, the joy of the Lord was his strength.
