John BAMFORD (son of James BAMFORD, Sr. and Jane Reed ACHERSON) was born 12 Mar 1836 in New Concord, Muskingum, OH, and died 16 May 1923 in Junction City, Lane, OR. He married Martha Rebecca Wonder on 22 Sep 1864 in Smithfield, Fulton, IL.

NOTE: John Bamford served with Company G of the Eighth Regiment of the Missouri Infantry during the Civil War. He enrolled the 26th of June 1861 at St. Louis, Missouri (pension records show that he enrolled at Elmwood, Peoria, Illinois in April 1861 and discharged with his Company the 7th of July 1864 at St. Louis, Missouri). He was discharged at St. Louis on the 12th of July 1864. (Per: War Department Record and Pension Division statement of Military Service dtd 22 June 1892. Record number 690798).
REMARK: Family heresay: In 1879, the family moved to the Metoluis River,
Jefferson County, Oregon and homesteaded at the head of the river.
Camp Sherman is said to be in the homestead area. The Blizzard
of 1885 wiped out the stock. John and family up and walked away
from this homestead in the spring of 1886. They moved to Junction
City, Lane County, Oregon. The new farm was located west and
south of Benton Lane Park. (The land and homestead records need
to be research to prove or disapprove this hearsay, (RES 9-7-94)).
