Embarked at Freemantle, Western Australia on 7 August 1941. Served in Australia and overseas with the 87th Light Aid Detachment. Reported as missing on 16 February 1942. Reported as having died of disease while a prisoner of war (no date given). Buried at Labuan War Cemetery, Sabah, Malaysia, Plot R, Row AA, Grave 7. Medals issued: 1939/45 Star Pacific Star War Medal Australian Service Medal [from Central Army Records Office, Melbourne, 31st August, 1983] |

The death occured at her sons residence at Bangalow on Tuesday, of Mrs O.J.Byrne, of Ewingsdale, after a short illness, at the age of 58 yrs. The funeral took place at the Roman Catholic portion of the Bangalow cemetery on Wednesday afternoon and was largely attended. The service at the graveside was conducted by Father Scott.
