James L. Chappell, Easley
James Leo Chappell, 66, of 1300 Brushy Creek Road, husband of Wilma Leslie Taylor Chappell, d ied Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Chappell was born in Oconee County, son of the late Leslieand Bessie Stephens Chappell. H e was a retired service technician with Western Union and was warehouse manager with IPA Sout hern of Easley. He was a member and Sunday School teacher at Brushy Creek Baptist Church in E asley. Mr. Chappell was also a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

Surviving are his wife, of the home; his children, Leann Chappell of Easley, Todd Taylor an d his wife Brenda, of Pickens, James Mitchell Chappell of Pickens, Kenny Taylor of Easley an d Angela Weisner and her husband Ashley, of Charlotte, N.C.; six grandchildren, Tiffany Taylo r, Tim Taylor, Sydney Taylor, Aby Taylor, Trevor Weisner and Luke Weisner; two sisters, Idel l Moser and Cornelia Lynch, both of Pickens; and three brothers, the Rev. Odell Chappell of C olumbia, Donnie Chappell of Liberty and Steve Chappell of Arkansas.

Mr. Chappell was predeceased by his parents; his stepmother, Beedy Campbell Chappell; and thr ee brothers, Carrell Chappell, J.C. Chappell and Lloyd Chappell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. today at Brushy Creek Baptist Church by the Rev . Rodney Graham and Preacher Tommy Hayes. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Ga rdens. Active pallbearers will be Chris Lynch, Jimmy Moser, Jerry Miller, Stanley "Beetle" Wi lson, David Winchester and David "Hub" Owen. Escort of Honor will be Mr. Chappell's Sunday Sc hool Class of Brushy Creek Baptist Church, and Lou O'Donald, Edith Youngblood, Helen Owen, Pa tsy Wilson, Mary Ellenburg, Carmen Brotherton, Joy Miller and Shirley Winchester.

The body is at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home in Pickens.
