3. Death Certificate. Margie died at Abernethy Laurels Nursing Home after a long bout of Pulmonary Fibrosis that was caused by years of smoking and working in a sewing factory. Even turning over in the bed would cause her to go into resp. distress. That Wed. night around 7:30pm while we were at church (Eastside Baptist in Newton where Don pastored), she went into resp. distress and could not come out of it this time. When Don and I (Elaine) returned home from church, Don checked our answering machine and there was a message to call Abernethy's. They informed Don that his Mom had died. We gathered our family (Don, Elaine, Chanatae, Josh, Kristen, (Frank was on duty with the National Guards), Aaron, Brandon, Sharon, Jordan, and Rick) and we all went into the room where Margie laid. It was hard yet we knew she was now at peace. Kristen and Don went shopping to buy her a beautiful rose colored dress and then went to the funeral home to fix her hair and makeup. Her funeral was that Sat. Mar. 28th, 2009. As she requested, Don preached her funeral and he and I did the special songs. "New Grace", and "At the Crossing". She was laid to rest beside of Melvin at Maiden Cemetery.
